Liza, Rob, and their Beagle, Wasabi, are full-time travelers in their 2020 Escape 5.0. They’re currently volunteering at the National Key Deer Refuge in Florida and preparing for a cross-country journey to California, stopping at national parks along the way.
In March, they’ll continue up the coast to Alaska for the summer, planning to travel full-time until at least October. They’re excited to share their adventure with the Escape community.

Las Vegas
Greetings from sunny Las Vegas! We got up bright and early this morning to drive to the Sam’s Town KOA in Las Vegas. Coming from the beautiful Valley of Fire State Park, it was quite the change back into civilization. The KOA was ready for us by 9 a.m. and we were able to get all set up for the open house at noon. With 14 back to back visitors from noon to two, we started off at a sprint! We had a final turnout of 25 people overall and it was so much fun showing everyone the camper we love so much. We had a few visits from fellow KOA campers stopping by to check out the 5.0 as well as people who have been researching Escapes Trailers for a while and were ready to see one in person. The lightweight, fiberglass body and its value retention seem to be a major selling point for most buyers. So many people told us how excited they were when they saw an ad online about the open house as they’d been wanting to see an Escape in person for a long time.
The KOA property had a really nice, easy layout and the staff was incredibly friendly and even stopped by to check out the camper. With our first open house complete, we were ready to hit Sam’s Town Casino and test our luck.
Thanks,
Rob and Liza

Los Angeles
Hello from Calimesa, California! After a very fun and relaxing two week visit with family in Riverside, we are back on the road! While two weeks of indoor plumbing was glorious, we are excited to be back in our home on wheels and start the next leg of our journey.
We left Riverside for Calimesa early this morning to get set up at SoCal Double D Farm for the open house. Mike, the owner, was there to greet us and very helpful getting us all backed in and ready to go.
The weather was not the greatest at first as it was a little chilly and overcast, but the sun came out later on and it turned into a beautiful California day. We had a smaller turnout than Vegas, but still had a nice time showing the camper. Lots of good questions about the fiberglass. We also got some homemade sourdough bread and jams from Julianne, the other owner of SoCal Double D Farm, so we are looking forward to breakfast!
Our next stops are Cachuma Lake in Santa Barbara County then Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. I’ve wanted to see the General Sherman tree for a very long time so I am very excited for the next couple of weeks. We hope to see you all soon at the next open house at Julietta Winery in the Sacramento area on April 11th!
Thanks,
Rob and Liza

Sacramento
Guten Tag from Julietta Winery! We’ve made it to the adorable town of Clarksburg just south of Sacramento for our latest open house. We spent the last couple of weeks exploring the incredibly diverse landscapes that California has to offer. From coastal Santa Barbara to the massive Sequoia trees in the Sierra Nevadas to the central valley, California has not disappointed. We particularly loved seeing General Sherman, the largest tree on Earth by volume!
We arrived at Julietta Winery yesterday afternoon so we had ample time to clean up the camper before the showing. Craig and Julie, the owners, were so welcoming and helped us get settled in without issue. By arriving early, it also allowed Rob and I to go sample some wines ourselves. Strictly for research purposes, of course. The wines were delicious and we will definitely be indulging in another glass this evening.
Once the open house started, we had a steady flow of visitors throughout the afternoon. With sunny blue skies, we couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was a busy day at the winery with multiple events including live music so we had lots of visitors stop by. The one piece construction of the Escape trailer was definitely the biggest draw of the day. We especially enjoyed chatting with Doug and Sharon about their travels. Doug motorcycled to Alaska in the past so he had lots of good tips for our upcoming trip.
With the Sacramento open house behind us, we are off to the Sonoma Coast tomorrow to continue our trip up north. We can’t wait to see the ocean again and enjoy some west coast sunsets. We will see you all again soon in Portland, Oregon!
