Position Title: Logistics & Supply Chain Co-op

Location: Chilliwack, BC

Escape Trailer Industries LP is the fastest-growing and direct-to-consumer travel trailer manufacturer in North America. We have openings for capable students either finishing or entering their final year of Global Supply Chain, Business Management, Manufacturing engineer degrees or technologist diplomas. If you enjoy the manufacturing environment and processes, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

This role will support the continued improvement in the SC area and also the production line. Reporting to the Director of Operations, Logistics and Supply Chain Co-op will have a key role to play as part of the Supply Chain team, being responsible for ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of forest products from the warehousing area, manufacturing department, reload facilities to our customers. This is an exciting 3-month term at our Chilliwack HQ, with possibility to be extended.


Must Haves:

It would be best to have a critical thinking mindset with a natural passion for improving things. You should be capable and interested in learning how about the assembly line. You must be comfortable in a light manufacturing environment and be able to communicate articulately. You must be willing to learn and have a commitment to problem-solving.

Responsibilities:
  • Create and oversee an employee training schedule that emphasizes productivity and resource conservation
  • Evaluate the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job
  • Assume responsibility for manufacturing processes in the respective area
  • Maintain open lines of communication between employees and management
  • Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly
 
Experience:
  • +5 years working in manufacturing or construction environment
  • +2 years of experience working in supervisor/leader position.
  • Experience supervising people in production area
  • Vast experience working with hand tools, power tools, tape measure
  • Good understanding about the industry

Position Title: Production Manager

Location: Chilliwack, BC

Escape Trailer is a unique RV travel trailer manufacturer located in Chilliwack, BC. We have been manufacturing trailers for over 18 years, and after a change in management in August 2018 we are in growth mode searching for a practical technical lead to take ownership of the production process. This leadership role is focused on improvement and growth, it is a great opportunity for an Engineer with manufacturing/production experience focused on solving complex problems and developing both process and people. The role is rich with opportunity for either a seasoned professional or someone well on their way to a leadership role. The company President is an Engineer, there are no politics, we focus on solving problems and supporting each other.

We are currently a single shift plant with currently 90 people running 5 days per week producing 2 trailers per day. We have an exceptional backlog that keeps growing. We need to build the capacity to produce 4 trailers per day through waste reduction, engineering development, and/or more resources and more shifts. This challenge will create significant personal career growth for the right individual. It is expected that this role will be a stepping stone for the right candidate to take a strong leadership role in a new factory development initiative.


Immediate Goals:
  • Review the current state and plan the future state for production.
  • Assess current resources and leadership team on the floor, and create an improvement plan.
  • Lead the Continuous Improvement team to focus on the best value return.
 
Overall Goals
  • Plan the future state and implement with continued revisions as necessary.
  • Coordinate with HR to assess and manage people's resources.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain on MRP.
  • Improve the production rate from 2 trailers per day to 4 trailers per day.
 
Skills and Experience:
  • You will have 7+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • You will be skilled at problem-solving in a fast-paced mixed production line environment.
  • You will have sufficient experience to identify and plan a collaborative approach with the shop-floor team.
  • You will have proven yourself skilled at negotiating within teams to implement an approach that achieves the objective while maintaining employee engagement.
  • You have proven experience leading from the front with the enthusiasm to create followers.
  • Your technical experience will enable you to utilize Excel at an experienced level (functions/pivot tables).
  • You will be very familiar with manufacturing routings/work instructions/PDCA and BOM's.
  • You will have Lean Manufacturing and common-sense experience in its application. You will know which parts to implement for the best return. 
  • Ideally, you will be a mechanical/manufacturing/industrial/production engineer or technologist.

This role reports to the Director, Operation

Position Title: Fiberglass Polisher

This position involves fiberglass repairs on the exterior of our RV trailers. One should be comfortable with body working repairs, sanding, buffing, and polishing and possess great attention to detail. Escape Trailer Industries offers a fast-paced, team environment suited to motivated individuals with a positive attitude looking for secure year-round employment.

 
Essential duties & requirements include:
  • Polishing, sanding & buffing fiberglass
  • Inspecting and working repairs
  • Must be comfortable working with power tools, hand tools, or other specialty tools
  • Must be comfortable wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves, or face respirators
 
Skills & Experience:
  • Tape measure usage (down to the 16ths)
