Position Title: Director of Finance

Location: Chilliwack, BC

Escape Trailer Industries LP is the fastest-growing and direct-to-consumer travel trailer manufacturer in North America, located in the beautiful Fraser Valley area – Chilliwack, BC. We have been manufacturing trailers for over 18 years. If you are someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is passionate about Finance, this is a fantastic opportunity for you!

Reporting to the President of Escape, the Director of Finance will be a key member of the management team and responsible for overseeing all aspects of the finance and accounting functions in addition to supporting operational and strategic initiatives. The Director of Finance will be required to regularly communicate with the private equity ownership group, management of Escape, customers, vendors, and operational team members to generate accurate, up to date information on costs, inventory, internal controls, cash flow forecasts, budgets and meaningful business analysis that supports comprehensive decision making and performance monitoring initiatives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute full cycle accounting processes and internal controls that are consistent with a middle market business;
  • Prepare the month-end package for Escape management and the private equity sponsor which includes financial statements, variance analysis for budget to actual, and updates on operational and strategic initiatives;
  • Lead the budget process and prepare quarterly rolling forecasts. Perform cash flow forecasting and management of cash flows;
  • Management of banking relationships and loan covenants;
  • Support annual year end audit;
  • Institute management accounting for the manufacturing environment where required;
  • Synthesize data from all departments to build business cases for product development initiatives and other capital expenditures plans;
  • Serve as a business partner to operational and strategic decision makers by providing financial support and tools.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Designated CA, CPA, CMA, or CGA;
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgement and decision making on financial, business, and organizational issues;
  • Proactive, self-motivated, decisive, driven and committed to organizational success;
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to consider the ‘big picture’ in the decision-making process;
  • Persuasive and understands how to engage and successfully lead/support others through change;
  • Financial acumen and demonstrated ability to identify risk;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel;
  • Financially savvy and applies balanced risk management analysis;

Electrical, gas, plumbing or carpentry experience is an asset, but not a requirement.  We are looking for positive-minded individuals who are eager to learn.

  • Work independently and collaboratively with fellow team members, supervisors, and engineers
  • Attain daily quality and delivery targets through standardized work
  • Work daily with various power tools & hand tools
  • Work independently on assigned projects with time restraints in mind
  • Following company standard requirements on safety and quality protocols

 

Preferred Skills/Requirements

  • Electrical (12V/120V), gas, carpentry or plumbing experience is preferred but not required
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Experience working in manufacturing or construction environments
  • High School Diploma
  • Fluent in English

Escape Trailer is looking for manufacturing experienced individuals to join our growing team.  This role will require strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work under pressure in a team environment.  You will be involved in supporting various departments in development and production, training technicians, problem-solving and designing test and experiments.  Currently studying in a Bachelor of Engineering program at a recognized university in Mechanical Engineering is a requirement.  Knowledge of lean manufacturing is an asset, but not required.

As a Co-op Engineer your role includes:

  • Supporting all departments to meet their daily/weekly/monthly goals
  • Support the engineering development team on the new trailer model development.
  • Support the shop floor production until the new model becomes ready for the prototype
  • Work closely with the marketing and operational teams, ensuring a successful launch of the product.
  • Prepare reports and documentation when required
  • Train technicians and operators
  • Identify areas of improvement, suggest solutions and submit ideas
  • Design and coordinate engineering tests and experiments
  • Completes basic tasks on engineering documentation
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

As a Production Supervisor your role includes:

  • Create and oversee an employee training schedule that emphasizes productivity and resource conservation
  • Evaluate the manufacturing process to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures (in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for injuries on the job
  • Assume responsibility for manufacturing processes in the respective area
  • Maintain open lines of communication between employees and management
  • Ensure all resources and assets are used efficiently and correctly


Your experience:

  • +5 years working in manufacturing or construction environment
  • +2 years of experience working in supervisor/leader position
  • Vast experience working with hand tools, power tools and tape measures
  • Good understanding of the industry

  • Collaborating with fellow team members, supervisors, and engineers
  • Casting, cleaning, prepping and assembling fiberglass shells
  • Work independently on assigned projects with time restraints in mind
  • Use various tools such as tape measures, polishers, sanders, etc.
  • Working repairs and spraying gelcoat
  • Following company standard requirements on safety and quality protocols
  • Problem solving with the ability to multitask & prioritize work


Preferred Skills/Requirements:

  • Comfortable wearing a respirator for extended periods
  • Experience in production/manufacturing
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Lift up to 50lbs

  • Plumbing and testing operations, installing fixtures, bathtubs, sinks, taps, drains, and tanks,

  • Ensure production, quality, and safety goals are met or exceeded
  • Capable to learn and lead to achieve hourly/daily/weekly production Targets.
  • Work effectively with other members of the department/plant to achieve production goals
