Location: Chilliwack, BC
Escape Trailer is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Engineering to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on innovation, manufacturing efficiency, and technical problem solving. This leadership role is critical to supporting day-to-day production, overseeing electrical and mechanical engineering efforts, and sustaining our product development pipeline. The ideal candidate is a licensed P.Eng with experience across electrical systems, CAD modelling, manufacturing processes and complete end-to-end product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
· Engineering Leadership & Team Management
· Lead and mentor a team of engineers and EITs.
· Drive continuous improvement through design-for-manufacturing
· Innovate on existing products and foster new product development
· Serve as Permit to Practice lead under Engineers & Geoscientists BC Product Development
· Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept through launch
· Lead mold procurement and new product tooling
· Maintain change management process and ensure traceability of updates
· Hands on integration of new products on prototype builds and layouts Electrical System Oversight
· Lead design and troubleshooting for DC (12V) and AC (120V) power systems.
· Provide Victron Energy and lithium battery integration guidance
· Support after-sales, commissioning, and production teams on electrical issues CAD & BOM Management
· Oversee CAD model integrity and file structure (Onshape).
· Support BOM accuracy and ensure alignment between engineering and supply chain.
· Champion the transition to build sheet automation Vendor and Supplier Relationships
· Maintain strategic technical relationships with key vendors
· Support procurement and evaluation of engineered equipment
CNC & Fabrication Oversight
· Ensure CNC machines are well-supported and operated correctly
· Promote knowledge-sharing among operators and engineers Compliance & Quality
· Lead QAI inspections, ensure regulatory and product compliance
· Support EIT mentorship for licensing and EGBC compliance Qualifications:
· Professional Engineer (P.Eng) license required
· Minimum 7+ years in engineering leadership, preferably in RV, automotive, or similar industries
· Strong understanding of electrical systems (DC/AC), lithium battery integration, solar, and Victron products
· Proficient in CAD software (Onshape preferred)
· Familiarity with BOM management, production engineering, and change management processes
· Experience mentoring EITs and managing permit to practice responsibilities with EGBC Assets:
· Experience with fiberglass, rotomolding, and RV industry
· Familiarity with QAI and EGBC regulatory compliance
· Hands-on troubleshooting and fabrication experience

- Contacting leads via phone or email and responding accurately and satisfactorily to questions and concerns
- Providing detailed information about products and services to prospective customers
- Following up with leads
- Product information support
- Rally and show participation
- Proactively identify and generate leads through various methods such as prospecting, cold calling, networking, attending events, or leveraging digital platforms
- During the front-end sales process, prospective customers may have objections or concerns. Address these objections by providing relevant information, addressing concerns, and overcoming barriers to a potential sale
- Engage in negotiations with prospective customers to finalize the terms of a sale
- 1 year sales experience required
- Valid Driver’s License & Passport
- Willingness to travel (for rally’s and shows)
- Comfortable driving/backing up a trailer
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Customer Service experience
- Excellent telephone manners
- Work independently as well as in a collaborative environment

You will be involved in measuring, cutting, assembling, and installing various components to produce a finished Escape trailer that meets quality standards. Electrical, gas, plumbing or carpentry experience is an asset, but not a requirement. We are looking for positive-minded individuals who are eager to learn.
